چکیده

Fifteen years have been passed after the first discovery of human dental pulpderived stem cells. Now, four types of stem cells are isolated from human dental pulp tissues, and are identified as dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs), stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED), stem cells from apical papilla (SCAP), and human supernumerary tooth-derived stem cells (SNTSCs). Recent investigations accumulate diverse evidence regarding to human dental pulp-derived stem cells to understand their properties, especially the multipotency of the stem cells. Therefore, many investigators have focused on human dental pulp-derived stem cells to apply regenerative therapy for dental and systemic diseases. This review provides insights into properties of human dental pulp-derived stem cells and current application of human dental pulp-derived stem cells into translational researches for local and systemic diseases.

Isolation and in vitro Characterization of Mesenchymal Stem Cells Derived from the Pulp Tissue of Human Third Molar Tooth

Background: It is still controversial that the stem cells isolated from human dental pulp meets the criteria for mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). The aim of the present study was to examine whether or not they are MSCs, or are distinct stem cells population residing in tooth pulp. Methods: Adherent fibroblastic cells in the culture of pulp tissue from human third molars were propagated through se...

Stem Cells of the Dental Pulp

Dental Pulp Stem Cells (DPSCs) can be found within the cell rich zone of dental pulp. These stem cells, under specific stimuli, differentiate into many cell types which have wide therapeutic applications.   The dental stem cells are derived from both deciduous and permanent teeth. The viable dental stem cells are very simple to collect, without any mortality and morbidity. Dental pulp stem c...

Isolation, Culture, and Characterization of Human Dental Pulp Mesenchymal Stem Cells

Introduction Based on previous researches, dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) are easily accessible with limited morbidity after collection. Their embryonic origin, from neural crests, explains their multipotency. DPSCs are primarily derived from the pulp tissues of the teeth. Objective: This study was undertaken to isolate, culture, and characterize two different third molar and first premolar hum...

A Comparative Study of Neuroprotective Effects of Human Adipose and Dental Pulp Derived Stem Cells on Hypoxic SH-SY5Y Cells Exposed to CoCl2

Background and purpose: Recent studies have demonstrated the promising effects of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in some neurodegenerative diseases and proved their neuroprotective effects. But, the detailed pathways and the ability of MSCs from various sources has not been fully investigated. Materials and methods: Here, we isolated MSCs from two sources; adipose tissue and dental pulp, and co...
